Brushing

Your dental care regimen should include brushing your teeth. The American Dental Association (ADA) advises you to:

Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean your teeth twice every day.

Your brush should be the right shape and size for your mouth, enabling you to effortlessly reach all regions.

Every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed, replace your toothbrush. Your teeth won't be thoroughly cleaned if your toothbrush is worn out.

Use fluoride toothpaste that has been approved by the ADA.

Steps to maintain good oral health:

To keep your mouth healthy, do the following in addition to brushing your teeth twice daily:

Drink a lot of water. If your community's tap water contains fluoride, consuming it may help reduce your risk of cavities.

Replace your toothbrush every three to four months. If the bristles start to deteriorate, bend, or break, replace them sooner.

Limit sugary foods and beverages, and maintain a balanced diet.

After brushing and flossing, rinse with antimicrobial mouthwash.

Visit the dentist regularly for cleanings and examinations.

Avoid smoking and using other tobacco products.

Floss once daily.

How long should you brush your teeth?

Brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes is recommended. If you use an electric toothbrush, you can easily keep track of the duration because most of them feature a timer that alerts you when your two minutes are up.

Brushing technique:

Brush your teeth with a pea-sized quantity of toothpaste. Too much toothpaste might cause it to foam up in your mouth, resulting in you stopping brushing too soon. Extra toothpaste also raises the danger of swallowing it and consuming fluoride, which can cause stomach issues.

Place your toothbrush on the gums at a 45-degree angle.

Using short, tooth-wide strokes, gently move the brush back and forth.

Brush the teeth's chewing surfaces as well as their inner and exterior surfaces.

Make multiple up-and-down strokes while tilting the brush vertically to clean the inner surfaces of the front teeth.

Katie is amazing! My daughter was very nervous and she was able to distract her by talking to her about things that interest her and also held her hand throughout the entire process. The girls Sho and Kathy that work the front desk are very helpful and kind as well. Both my son and daughter are no longer afraid of the dentist. Thank you so much!
