Orthodontics

If you’re in need of a pediatric orthodontist in Tewksbury, Pediatric Dentistry and Beyond will be happy to help. We specialize in children’s orthodontic examinations and treatment because we believe that children should get an orthodontic consultation before the age of seven.
We provide a wide range of orthodontic services that meet the needs of almost every kid. For example, if your child prefers Invisalign over metal braces, you’ll be relieved to hear that Pediatric Dentistry and Beyond provides both of these treatment options and more. When developing a plan for your child’s smile, we consider your requirements, wants, and budget.

Restorative Services:

Restorative orthodontics aims to address not only the alignment and positioning of teeth but also any underlying dental issues that might affect the overall oral health and function.

Pulpotomy/Pulpectomy/Baby Root Canal Treatment

Root canal therapy involves treating decay within the tooth. If the interior of the tooth, known as the dental pulp, is injured, it will eventually deteriorate if left within the tooth. The pulpotomy procedure involves extracting the pulp, cleaning out the root canals, and packing the canals with material that will help heal the tooth until it is ready to exfoliate (fall out naturally).

Composite Fillings

The most lifelike substance used to treat cavities is tooth-colored fillings. Composite fillings can be completed in one visit. After the decay is removed, the tooth is filled with this composite material, which hardens instantly.

Dental Crowns

Crowns are dental caps composed of stainless-steel materials. The cap fits directly over a tooth and is specifically made to fit the tooth in need. Pediatric dentists typically employ these types of dental crowns for children with seriously decaying teeth since the material’s longevity prevents further damage.

Interceptive orthodontic Services:

At Pediatric Dentistry and Beyond, we offer a wide range of Interceptive orthodontic services which focus on the following.

Habit Appliance

A habit appliance can be used to help break a thumb or finger habit and/or retrain an incorrect tongue position or swallowing pattern. It is sometimes necessary to use an appliance to reduce the damage and distortion that habits or tongue position might have on teeth. Most habit appliances are banded to the back molars for adherence and are not detachable.

Space maintainers

Space maintainers are used to prevent teeth from shifting into an empty tooth space caused by the early loss of primary (baby) teeth. Baby teeth serve as guides for the emergence of permanent teeth. A space maintainer is made of stainless steel and/or plastic. It can be either detachable or cemented to the teeth.

Herbst appliance

The Herbst appliance is used in combination with braces to address an overbite. Overbite is generally caused by the size and positioning of the lower jaw. The Herbst appliance is often used on patients aged 10 to 13 years to take advantage of the patient’s natural growth spurt, assisting in the development and placement of the lower jaw. The appliance is held in place by bands cemented to one upper and one lower molar on each side of the mouth, linking the upper and lower jaws. Gradually, the lower jaw position will change, allowing the next stage of orthodontic treatment to begin.

Distalizer

A Distalizer can be used to achieve molar realignment prior to complete orthodontic treatment. This treatment method may successfully place molars for bracketing while also drastically shortening the patient’s total orthodontic treatment duration.

Katie is amazing! My daughter was very nervous and she was able to distract her by talking to her about things that interest her and also held her hand throughout the entire process. The girls Sho and Kathy that work the front desk are very helpful and kind as well. Both my son and daughter are no longer afraid of the dentist. Thank you so much!
